What to Expect on Your First Skydive Tandem Fall in Las Vegas

Skydive slot availability depends on the weather

A lot of factors play a part in skydiving including slot availability and weather. But depending on the weather, your skydiving date could be shifted a little. This is why it is advised to book your slot early in the morning to have the entire day at your disposal. Before the weather is good for skydiving, you will need to complete the forms and the training session to be ready.

Before the skydive

You might feel slightly nervous and restless a day before your scheduled skydiving but you need a good night’s sleep to enjoy this sport the next day. Make sure you have a light breakfast so that you don’t stress too much and have energy for the activity. Select loose-fitted and comfortable clothes such as track pants and a t-shirt to wear along with sneakers. Also, if it feels a little chilly, then pack a jacket or full-sleeved t-shirt.

Arrival at skydive facility

Once you reach the Las Vegas Skydive facility and check-in, you will need to complete the required forms for skydiving. So, arrive 15-20 minutes early to complete all these formalities. After the documentation, a health check-up would be carried out to determine your age, height, etc., and whether you can skydive or not.

Training Session

Sometime before you need to board the plane, you will be taken to the training session where an instructor will teach you the basics of skydiving and all the safety guidelines to follow. Here, you will learn body movements to adapt while freefalling and a camera flyer will interview you and record your journey. Next, a harness will be put on you which will be used to attach you to a licensed instructor for tandem skydiving. This instructor will take care of everything from jumping to landing.

Gearing up and technical checks

Safety checks on the equipment and the plane will be carried out. After that, you can board the plane and enjoy the stunning views around you as the airplane takes off and gains altitude slowly. This ride takes around 20 minutes before you reach the exit altitude. A final check of the equipment is carried out and the participant is tethered to the instructor via harness before they jump.

The Tandem Fall

This entire skydiving experience can last around 5 – 7 minutes. As you freefall, which can last for a maximum of 60 seconds, you can enjoy the magnificent views around you from this great height. Now, you deploy the parachute and soar gently in the air before you land.

Landing

Gently land back at the base and then leave the pit area. Get your photos and videos of your skydive experience from the reception and head back home.
