Escape the ordinary and try the skydiving experience of a lifetime!
Face your fears and enjoy an adrenaline rush unlike any other!
Following a closure due to the pandemic, the Gold Coast skydive facility has reopened to the public. This move comes with several safety measures in place. Here’s what you need to know:
Australia’s famed Gold Coast’s reputation precedes it; it’s a true paradise for lovers of sun, sand and waves. Home to some truly mesmerizing blue-green beaches and immaculately-maintained green covers, a visit to the Gold Coast is impossible to miss. And, when you’re at the Gold Coast, if you’re looking for a thrilling view of the ocean, what better way than by going skydiving?
Near the Gold Coast, there are two major skydive drop zones: Byron Bay and Noosa. Both idyllic little coastal towns with private airstrips and an absolutely unforgettable view from 15,000 ft above. Go skydiving at Gold Coast and prepare for the experience of a lifetime.
There are two primary forms of skydiving at Gold Coast: Accelerated Freefall (AFF) and tandem skydiving. While you would need specific training and licenses to try AFF, tandem skydiving as an option is available for everyone.
With tandem skydiving, you’ll not attempt a freefall solo -- instead, you will be accompanied by a professional skydive instructor every step of the way. Before the jump, while in the airplane, you’ll be attached with a harness to an instructor; they will control the skydive, from the jump and landing to deployment of the parachute and appropriate body positions to adapt.
Tandem skydiving is the best option for first-time skydivers or those looking to learn more about the basics of this adventure sport.
These are the locations you can skydive in and around Gold Coast:
The little beachside town of Byron Bay, located far-east in New South Wales, boasts awe-inspiring views from the top. Prepare to view lush forests gently surrounded by the beautiful blue ocean. The Byron Bay skydive center has its own private hangar and contained drop-zone. Freefall at over 200 km/hr! Along with the skydive, your ticket also includes the services of a professional tandem skydive instructor and necessary safety equipment.
Aptly located along the Sunshine Coast, Noosa is a little coastal town in Australia, best known for its sandy white beaches and sparkling blue-green ocean -- exactly the kind of view you want when you jump from 15,000 ft in the sky at a speed of about 200 km/hr. Along with the skydive, your ticket also includes the services of a professional tandem skydive instructor and necessary safety equipment.

Before the skydive
Your Gold Coast skydive experience will begin once you reach the drop zone. It is recommended that you check-in about 15 minutes before your assigned slot, allowing you to complete essential paperwork in time. After this, you’ll have to undertake a standard health check-up, where your height, age, weight and other relevant factors will be checked to ensure you’re fit for a skydive.
Training for the skydive
After the health check, you’ll meet your skydive instructor team. You’ll go through a training session with them, where you’ll be given the necessary instructions about your skydive. You will learn about basic skydive body movements to remember before and during the jump, what to expect, what to avoid, etc. This session should last between 20-30 minutes.
The skydive
After your training session, you’ll be provided with all the necessary equipment for the skydive. Your tandem skydive instructor will guide you towards the aircraft. To reach the 15,000 ft skydive height, you’ll fly for about 20 minutes. Before the jump, your instructor will attach themselves to you and alert you to get into position right before the jump.
Now comes the moment you’ve been waiting for: the freefall. You’ll freefall for about 60 seconds with your instructor until they release the parachute. At this point, everything will slow down a bit, actually giving you time to soak in the magnificent view below. Nothing will prepare you for the view of the sparkling ocean, lush landscape and clouds around. You will freefall for about 5-7 minutes, after which your instructor will navigate a safe landing back at base.
To ensure the safety of its guests, several safety measures have been implemented at all the Gold Coast skydive facilities.
All the skydive Gold Coast facilities now accept online reservations. Additionally, masks and social distancing is mandatory at the facility. Hand sanitizers are also available, and the staff will be in protective gear the entire time.
